  • Green Athletic Programs

The 'greening' of sports is a relatively new field but a consideration which will increase in importance. There are donors and foundations already asking the question of non-profit organizations conducting fundraising events, whether their events are ecologically friendly. Here are some great resources:

  • Schmied, M. et al. (2007) Green Champions in Sport and Environments: Guide to Environmentally Sound Large Sports Events [1]. Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.  (BMU), Alexanderstra§e 3, D-10178 Berlin and German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), Division Development of Sports Otto-Fleck-Schneise 12, D-60528 Frankfurt am Main.
  • Chernushenko, D., A. van der Kamp and D. Stubbs. (2001) Sustainable Sport Management: Running an Environmentally, Socially and Economically Responsible Organization [2]. UNEP.
